Economical Irani restaurants in Mumbai

Image
Hello Food Lovers. Have you ever tried Irani chai/tea? It is a blend of spices mixed with tea leaves and a hearty splash of whole milk or condensed milk. I always make it a point to include it in my order whenever I visit an Irani restaurant/cafe no matter the time. Today, I am going to share with you my favorite low-budget Irani restaurants. They not only serve delicious food but have their very own in-house bakery as well. Hope you will give them a try as well. 1. Kyani & Co. The first time I visited Kyani was way back in 2010. Me and my high school friends went to check out the Prince of Wales Museum (renamed  Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya). We were starving on the way back and haven't had much cash so one of my friends suggested this place and It became one of my go-to places ever since. We had bun maska pav and tea, and bhurji and pav and irani omelette. They have a hearty selection of cakes as well. The restaurant has an antic vibe to it and yo...

Ragda Patties

Image
Hello My Lovely Readers. Today, I am going to share with you a street-style Ragda patties recipe. It is a shallow fried potato patty that is crispy on the outside and soft inside topped with savory dried peas curry and served with spicy chili-coriander chutney and sweet and tangy tamarind chutney. You can also add a scoop of beaten yogurt and sev on top to enhance the flavor. It is one of the popular street food in Mumbai and we are going to make it from scratch which will be if not tastier than the street one then at least more hygienic. I will share the recipe for tamarind and chili-coriander chutney at a later date. so let's begin. Ingredients (Serves 3): 4 medium-sized boiled potatoes 100 gm/1 cup dried green peas (Note: You can use white peas instead if you don't have green peas) 2 cups of water 1 finely chopped onion 1 finely chopped tomato 1/4 cup finely chopped coriander leaves 1 teaspoon red chili powder 1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder 2 teaspoons chaat masala 2 teaspoon...

You can either deep or shallow-fry the rolls. These can be eaten with tomato sauce as an evening snack or given to kids in tiffin.  so let's get into it. Firstly, I have used white bread for this recipe but you can use whole wheat bread and it won't make any difference.   Ingredients (Serves 3): 4 medium-sized boiled potatoes bread slices 1/3 teaspoon turmeric powder 1/4 teaspoon cumin powder 1 teaspoon red chili powder 1/4 teaspoon garam masala powder salt as per taste 1/2 finely chopped onion 2 finely chopped green chilies finely chopped coriander 4-5 curry leaves oil water Instructions: Peel the boiled potatoes and mash them thoroughly and keep aside.
